Taylor Swift‘s friends aren’t convinced she’s really tying the knot at Madison Square Garden!
News dropped last week that Taylor and Travis Kelce are planning to host their extravagant wedding at MSG in the heart of New York City on July 3. While it seems like an odd choice, sources previously said it was the perfect place for privacy and high security for the couple’s A-list-packed guest list.
But now those in the pair’s inner circle think something else might be at play with these new rumors. Speaking to Rob Shuter‘s Naughty But Nice Substack on Sunday, an insider said:
“This doesn’t sound like Taylor. It sounds like something the Kardashians would do.”

While friends aren’t dismissing the reports completely, many think it feels very unlike the songwriter, another source explained:
“Taylor has always used her personal life in her work. The songs, the Easter eggs, the social media posts—that’s part of her brand. But that’s very different from getting married at one of the most famous venues in the world.”
Yeah… It does seem like a VERY flashy venue for someone whose tried to maintain as much privacy in her personal life as possible. Doubling down on this, the source put it perfectly:
“A wedding at Madison Square Garden feels like a production. Not a wedding.”
Another insider joked:
“Are they selling tickets? Is there a Ticketmaster partnership? A livestream? That’s why people aren’t buying it.”
LOLz!
With that said, one confidant had an inneresting theory on these venue rumors:
“Most people I know think it’s a decoy. The theory is guests will be told to meet at MSG, then they’re put on buses and taken somewhere else.”
Hmm. It’s a good theory… Though, why tell all the paps and fans exactly where you’re going to be, if so? We mean, folks would notice if a ton of buses start rolling out of MSG and just follow the parade to the real wedding, right?
Another insider agreed there’s something fishy with this news, speculating:
“Something is definitely being hidden.”
We don’t doubt that! Taylor is a smart lady — she knows how to create a good distraction! So, if the venue isn’t MSG, where are these lovebirds saying “I do”?!
