Taylor Swift & Jack Antonoff Reveal Where They Stand After Sparking Feud Rumors

Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff may be on a break from making music together, but that does not mean their friendship is dunzo for good!

As you know, the pair have been close friends and collaborators ever since Jack worked on her track Sweeter Than Fiction in 2013. They went on to make 1989, Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Evermore, Midnights, and The Tortured Poets Department together. He even helped out with the re-recordings of her albums after Scooter Braun obtained her masters back in 2019.

After years of collaboration, everyone thought they’d be best friends forever! However, fans started to question whether Taylor and Jack’s friendship is on the rocks after her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl! Why? The producer had no hand in the album! Taylor turned to Max Martin and Shellback to help create it instead!

Both are making it clear now that all is well between them, though! Taylor shut down the feud rumors in an interview with the New York Times Magazine on Tuesday, saying:

“Jack Antonoff is a collaborator of mine and one of my best friends.”

See! The friendship hasn’t been ruined! Talking about their legendary bridges, the pop star continued:

“We established this thing that we love to do, and we call it the rant bridge. It’s basically like stream of consciousness, endless pouring-out of emotion, intrusive thoughts, blended with metaphor, with discussion, with shouting. You want this rant bridge to feel the most intense of what that feeling is that you’re trying to establish over the course of the song and you want it to be kind of a crescendo.”

For his part, Jack opened up about their “deep friendship” on The Howard Stern Show that same day. Jack started by looking back on meeting Tay in Germany in 2012:

“I was like, ‘Oh, you’re my people,’ and then we started sending music back and forth. I sent her a track I had made, and then quite quickly, as she can do in five minutes, it felt like, sends back lyrics and melody on top of that track.”

The Bleachers musician noted that when he made the song for the Back To December artist, it was solely for her! And he has no regrets about not keeping it for himself:

“There’s total separation with me. I’m never working on something and thinking like, ‘Where does this go?’ It’s always super intentional.”

According to Jack, their friendship is “very deep.” He added:

“You live an amazing artistic life together in that room, and then it lives on. It’s extremely powerful.”

And normally, Jack never expects to work with an artist again once something is complete:

“When something’s done, I’m always like, ‘That’s it. We had this moment and I love you and we’ll be friends forever, but that’s it.’”

So when they do, he is “utterly shocked.” He said:

“When it happens, I go, okay, cool. ‘One more for some reason, but that’s it.’”

Of course, that is not what happened with Jack and Taylor. They went on to make several albums together. Although some may think Jack is salty of her decision to work with different producers for The Life of a Showgirl, he’s actually not! In fact, he thinks it is “normal” for artists to switch up collaborators:

“It’s really weird. It sounds kind of corny. I only feel grateful for the work that’s happened and maybe it’s because I write my own songs and sing them that I understand that need to have different collaborators and jump around. I don’t think it’s normal to have the same collaborators over and over and when I’ve had it with people, I think it’s a weird miracle.”

No bad blood! And to prove they are so in sync, Jack also discussed they “special” process of making a “rant bridge” with Taylor:

“The concept of the rant bridge, which is a very her and I thing, is you spend a whole song verse in chorus, you know, being super poetic and dancing around something and giving details and holding some back and, you know, creating a lot of mystery, and then you get to this bridge and you just crash the f**k out. At that point you’ve earned it, so it’s almost like you can be so free and…it’s something that I feel like is kind of one of our very special things that happens when we’re in a room together. We kind of egg each other on.”

Hopefully, Taylor and Jack will work together again one day! We need more rant bridges from them! But it’s a relief to know they’re friendship is not over now because of TLOASG! Watch Jack’s interview (below):
