It may have taken over a year, but Kevin McGuire FINALLY got his wish!
You may remember the then-18-year-old leukemia survivor’s story from February of 2012, as his sister set up a Facebook page to invite Taylor Swift to join him at his prom!
Although the country cutie couldn’t make the date, she instead offered to bring him as her date to the 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards, which he initially accepted…but by April, he couldn’t go because of a fever brought on by his chemotherapy!
Thankfully, that didn’t stop T-Swizzle from keeping him in her thoughts, and he was FINALLY able to get that date with his idol after she made sure to invite he and his family to this year’s ceremony!

As he says:
“I think Taylor is one of those people who you don’t really see that often. Classy, sweet and kind. Going through what we’ve been through├óΓé¼┬ªit’s symbolic, in a way. It started my chapter with my cancer. Now it’s behind me; I can close the book on it.”
Yes, you certainly can, Kevin!
And we are SO thrilled, first and foremost, with how incredible and healthy you look, but also with your perseverance, positive attitude, and drive to keep fighting for a better tomorrow!
Taylor was very lucky to have been able to spend time with such an inspiration, and we’re sure she knows it!
