Taylor Swift's Upcoming Seventh Studio Album Will Have 'Political Undertones'

Taylor Swift's new album will be political!

Political Taylor Swift is just getting warmed up, y’all!
In a new interview with German outlet RTL, the ME! songstress confirmed that fans can expect her upcoming seventh studio album to be politically woke.

According to translations from multiple outlets, she teased:

“I definitely think there are political undertones in the new music I made. I’m not planning to stop encouraging young people to vote and to try to get them to talk about what’s going on in our country. I think that’s one of the most important things I could do.”

Uh… is it, though?
Sure, political activism is super important — but so is blessing the masses with gut-wrenching breakup songs and uplifting party-pop anthems. Hopefully, the 29-year-old checks off all the above on her new album.

As fans will know, Taylor was anything but political for most of her career. Up until the midterm elections last year, the Tennessee sweetheart who was born and raised in Pennsylvania remained tight lipped about her political leanings.

Of course, the old, politically apathetic Taylor was declared dead in early October 2018 — when the new, politically woke Taylor picked up the phone and shared an Instagram post supporting the Democratic candidates in Tennessee, writing:

“In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now. I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country. I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG. I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent…I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love… These are not MY Tennessee values.

Looks like we’ll be hearing about more of Taylor’s Tennessee values on her upcoming album!
One of those values, unsurprisingly, is gender equality — something the Grammy-winner brought up elsewhere in her recent interview. When asked if she was thinking about settling down and having kids as her 30th birthday approaches, the musician said:

“I really do not think men are asked that question when they turn 30. So I’m not going to answer that question now.”

Maybe she’ll put the answer in one of her songs?
Either way, we can’t wait to hear what musical wonders #T7 has in store! Are U excited for Swift’s next album?
