Taylor Swift's Style Evolution

It’s no surprise that we love Taylor Swift, and we love how far she’s come in her career and style even more!

She’s been on our radar since her first album came out in 2006, and she’s only gotten better with time. Here’s a look back at her style evolution, with everything in between!
2009: Country Star

With her signature ringlets and bedazzled guitar, this was Taylor’s look as she cemented herself into the world of country and pop music for the first few years. Her concert looks included sparkly mini dresses, and her red carpet looks were typically more of the same, but she’d keep it casual in fun dresses and prints on her time off stage.
2010: Getting Sleeker

While she was still singing country pop tunes in 2010, things were getting a little sleeker and more grown up for her, musically AND style wise. With a little more makeup, and more risky but still classic outfit choices, Miz Swift began to look like a real lady!
2011: Curls Be Gone

We slowly began to see Taylor say goodbye to her classic curls for bigger waves and straight hair as she embarked on her second world tour for her album Speak Now. She also continued to rock her winged cat-eye and red lip look that she still sports today!
2012: Bangin’

While Taylor had been rocking side swept bangs since the beginning, she introduced blunt bangs the same year as her fourth album Red, as well as a lot of red into her wardrobe, from red carpet to street style. She also dated Conor Kennedy of the Kennedy family in 2012, possibly why many of her looks seemed to be inspired by classic Americana.
2013: An Angel

Taylor fit right in with the Victoria’s Secret angels, including bestie Karlie Kloss, as she performed at the VSFS in a typical Taylor sparkly mini dress, showing off her long legs!
2014: Street Style Icon

After moving to NYC, Taylor became somewhat of a street style icon, usually photographed by the paparazzi in high waisted shorts, bowler hats, classic fitted shirts, and a new short haircut, which were also reflected in her on stage looks. Oh, and her cat Olivia Benson was also usually in her arms. So chic!
2015: Girl Gang

In 2015, we saw the formal introduction of Taylor’s girl gang with the release of the Bad Blood music video in May, which included cameos from Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, Lena Duham, Martha Hunt, and more. Her fashion choices got a whole lot more sexy as the year went on and she embarked on her 1989 tour, which also featured surprise cameos from many of her close girlfriends.
2016: Bring On The Drama

Just before her breakup with Calvin Harris, Taylor debuted a fresh chop and bleached hair to match her edgier style choices during one of the best years of her career (so far).
2017: Big Reputation

We should have seen this coming! Taylor continued to play with her dark side when she dropped Reputation in November 2017, rocking lots of oversized sparkly tops with shorts during performances for the album, but went back to her classic blonde hair and bangs.
2018: Back To Classic

We saw a return to the OG Taylor with this whimsical pink look and a light pink lip color on the red carpet, but she still maintained some sassy outfits including sparkles and daring playsuits for her onstage looks during the Reputation tour, leaving us wondering where she’ll go next in 2019!
