A popular computer science teacher was arrested at the high school where he teaches on Wednesday afternoon following a police discovery of a hidden camera in a teenage girl’s bathroom.
Christian Williams, 48, was taken into custody by police at Spanaway Lake High School in the city of Spanaway, Washington — which is a southern suburb of Tacoma — on Wednesday. He was placed under arrest at the school, where he had been employed as an Advanced Placement computer science teacher. The entire school was forced into a lockdown as the police arrived and took Williams into custody, and then escorted him out of the classroom.

Spanaway Lake High School is part of the Bethel School District south of Tacoma. After Williams’ shocking arrest, officials from the school district released a statement confirming that the teacher had in fact been detained at school:
“This afternoon, a Bethel School District teacher was arrested at school. Pierce County Deputies came onto campus at Spanaway Lake High School, put the school into a modified lockdown, and made the arrest without incident.”
According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department via Fox 13 News, the whole controversy started late last month when a 14-year-old girl reported to police that she had uncovered a USB plug-in charger and a camera in the bathroom she shared with her 11-year-old sister at home. She brought the camera to authorities, who examined the device for evidence.
Disgustingly, cops say they uncovered several disturbing videos and photos of the teenager and an unnamed friend both using bathroom in the home. And after studying the device further, cops told the media that they found enough evidence to charge and arrest Williams in the case. He is the girl’s stepfather, according to multiple news reports.

Speaking to local news outlet KCPQ on Thursday, Sergeant Darren Moss of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office stated:
“We’ve only been able to search that device. If we’ve located other devices or if we find computers or cell phones that have images of minors, then that investigation gets larger and larger.”
For now, Williams has been booked into the Pierce County Jail on child pornography charges. He has already pleaded not guilty in the case, as you can see from his first court appearance (below). But detectives are said to be still looking at the camera and searching through the Williams home as they seek to gather more evidence to make their case against the disgraced teacher.
