Judging by the pre-sales of Ted Kennedy‘s memoir, the book should be atop the New York Times Bestseller list in no time!
True Compass is already #7 on Amazon.com and and #3 on Barnes and Noble’s website, even though the book won’t be hitting stores until September 14th!
Kennedy’s memoir is being kept under tight wraps until its release date, with both Time and Newsweek up in arms over not receiving an advanced copy of True Compass.
Newsweek‘s Editor-in-Chief Jon Meacham has even said he searched the entire US for a copy of the memoir, but turned up empty handed!
“We’ve released no information about our publicity plans,” says a spokesman for the memoirs’ publisher, Hachette Book Group.
True Compass, which was to be released in early 2010, saw its release bumped up to October when Kennedy was diagnosed with brain cancer in May 2008. The publishers made the bold (and smart) decision to move the date to mid-September after the senator’s passing late last week.
