We were totally surprised when she chose prison over rehab.
But we stand corrected – that seemed to have been her best move yet!
Teen Mom Amber Portwood has a new lease on life these days, and she’s grateful for every second of it!
She knows that she was in a bad place before she went to jail, and that’s why she believes that the big house saved her life! And has made her a better mother to her daughter Leah!
Here’s what she said:
“Before prison, I never thought about Leah. I was addicted to drugs and didn├óΓé¼Γäót care about anything else. Prison saved my life ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ and gave me a second chance at being a mother.”
The change wasn’t immediate though.
When she first entered prison she admits she was quite depressed, but realized that if she wanted to get out of there – she needed to make some changes to her life!
Here’s what she said:
“Feeling humiliated and vulnerable (from the strip search), you literally have nothing and walk around like a zombie. There were times I reached a breaking point. I knew the only person who could get me out of there was me.”
We’re SO glad that she was able to get her life together in a big way!
Initially sentenced for 5 years at Indiana├óΓé¼Γäós Rockville Correctional Facility – she was released in more than half that time for good behavior!
And now she can get started on doing what she considers to be her most important responsibility…
…Being a good mommy!
