We knew the Duggars were conservative, but wow, their commitment is pretty….honorable??
In their new book, Growing Up Duggar, the teenage girls of the reality TV family talk about courtship and coming from a huge family and some of the beliefs they grew up were pretty shocking! This is beyond old-fashioned!
One of the sisters, Jana, said:
“The message that we are really trying to relay is just to give girls├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥which is our main audience├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥just the tips and the things that we├óΓé¼Γäóve learned through life and what our parents have raised us just believing.”
Their parents raised them to believe that hand holding is a HUGE deal and you can’t just go holding hands with anyone!
Another sister, Jessa, said:
“I think we’re saving like hand holding and that stuff more for engagement and we├óΓé¼Γäóre saving our first kiss for our wedding day.”
Yet another sister, Jill, said:
“We really have learned a lot from our parents├óΓé¼Γäó example├óΓé¼┬ª teaching us to be each other├óΓé¼Γäós best friends.”
We don’t like to blast another parent’s method for raising their children but shielding them from the world is only going to make them less able to handle reality and adulthood.
We really hope as these kids grow they realize their parents have their beliefs, but they’re not necessarily right for everyone.
This just sounds like a recipe to get horny teens to rush into a bad marriage.
