Who doesn’t love sleep? To some, having the ability to sleep for days on end may be a dream come true, but for 17-year-old Louisa Ball‘s parents, it’s a nightmare.
Dubbed the real-life “Sleeping Beauty” by the press, the only spell Louisa is under is known as Kleine-Levin Syndrome.
The incurable autoimmune disorder triggers a reaction in a specific area of the brain which affects sleep, mood, and temper, sometimes causing an otherwise sweet young girl to lash out violently at her parents.
Although her temper is now controlled by mood stabilizers and her hibernations are less frequent, the teen has missed holidays, birthdays, and weeks of school while laying sound asleep for up to ten days at a time.
Check out the video above for all the details on this unbelievable illness, which sadly still has no cure, but experts believe sufferers can outgrow after ten to twelve years!
