When Jackson White said he had a story “the internet will like,” he was not kidding! Get ready for a hilarious behind-the-scenes detail about Tell Me Lies, everyone!
The 28-year-old actor appeared on Tuesday on the PIE podcast, hosted by his mom, Katey Sagal, and stepdad Kurt Sutter. They’re industry professionals, of course, so it was a lot of shop talk. At one point, Jackson revealed the popular Hulu show has only one intimacy coordinator, so they have a “sex week” scheduled to knock out all those steamy scenes while they’re in town:
“Here’s one that the internet will like. You got one sex coordinator — one intimacy coordinator — that would kind of line up with a week. So, it would be like a sex week, and there would be sex scenes all day long. So there’d be, like, an intimacy coordinator running from set to set because Lucy and Leo were doing it, but then Brie and Oliver were doing it. And it would be like, sex days.”
Ha! That’s a wild few days on set!

Meanwhile, Jackson was “in my trailer” during the scenes — some of which involved his IRL girlfriend and onscreen love interest, Grace Van Patten! LOLz! Of course, fans know he wasn’t just in his trailer the entire time. He also filmed several sex scenes for the show — but apparently he needed a lot of help to get it “right!” When Kurt questioned if an intimacy coordinator is someone “designated” to teach him “how to do it,” Jackson revealed “they did” — all because someone called him out for “not thrusting” correctly during the first season! OMG!
Can you imagine a professional sex coordinator calling out your technique in a professional setting?? He recalled:
“Someone was like, ‘He’s not thrusting right.’ I was like, ‘How?’ They’re like, ‘Well, he’s kind of, it doesn’t look like he’s inside,’ So, we have to make it so that it’s more realistic.”
Turns out the issue they had? The Mrs. Fletcher alum was doing “a body roll thing” when he should have done a “more stationary” movement. So, they asked him to “work” on it. He even received “four pages of your thrusting notes” from his showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer! Damn!
Thankfully, he wasn’t embarrassed too much. He just took the notes, “worked on it,” and eventually “nailed it.” So to speak…
And we bet fans do not have any complaints about those scenes, all thanks to those notes about his performance! Check out the podcast episode (below):
