Pat yourself on the back Internets, you’ve come through again!
A terminally ill Star Trek mega-fan was able to screen a rough cut of the upcoming J.J. Abrams sequel, and it wouldn’t have been possible without an internet plea that went viral.
Daniel, a 41-year-old man diagnosed with only weeks to live, was hospitalized and missed out on the nine minute Into Darkness trailer attached to select screenings of The Hobbit and it absolutely crushed his spirit.
The man’s loving wife made an open-ended plea to the internet, asking if anyone could assist in getting him a copy of the lengthy preview.
Once the heartfelt request went viral, Paramount and J.J. did them one better — they invited them for a special screening of the entire film!

Though they refuse to spoil details of the film for the rest of us, Daniel and his wife admitted they “enjoyed it immensely.”
As the production company and acclaimed director did this out of the kindness of their hearts and not for good press, they declined comment on the story.
Star Trek Into Darkness beams into theaters on May 17th. We sincerely hope Daniel’s health improves and he is around to watch the final cut!
