Terrence Howard Reveals He Is 'Done' With Acting In Bizarre Interview: 'I'm Done Pretending'

Terrence Howard says he's quitting acting.

It’s officially a wrap for Terrence Howard‘s acting career.

On Thursday, the 50-year-old thespian revealed he is “done” with being an actor and does not have plans to pursue any more on-camera roles after Empire‘s sixth and final season ends.

The Lucious Lyon portrayer admitted the shocking news during a rather bizarre, sit-down interview with Extra correspondent Miss USA Chelsie Kryst. Howard said:

“I’m done with acting. I’m done pretending.”

But, why?

What brought on this sudden urge to leave show business and what’s next for the seasoned entertainer?

Kryst tried to get those answers out of Terrence as she asked the star if he planned to start a new career in philanthropy. Which, is a fair assumption as some of Hollywood’s best have devoted their lives outside of the industry to charity and working with non-profit organizations in the years after their prime.

We’re not saying the guy is over the hill or anything, but, he’d be in good company if he decided to go that route. See examples: George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, etc. Heck, even his co-star Taraji P. Henson‘s got her own foundation for giving back right now. Do you catch our drift?

Well, Howard appears to have different plans in mind. He replied:

“No, not philanthropy. I’m just focusing on bringing truth to the world.”

Okay. Vague much?

Watch the conversation for yourself (below):

As you can see in the clip, the Hustle & Flow star did not further elaborate what he meant by “truth.” But a quick look at his social media activity might give us a clue as to what he’s referring to here.

In August, he posted a photo of a mathematics equation on Instagram which posed the question, “Does one dollar bill times one dollar bill equal one dollar or two dollars?” in the form of emojis and money symbols.

Well, does it? / (c) Terrence Howard/Instagram

The caption reads:

“Dear Friends, I believe that enough time has passed with Mankind behaving as if we are living in the dark ages! At last, “the proof and the pudding” is ready to be served! Go to Tcotlc.com and download the Truth concerning Man’s flawed approach to math and let me show you, How our Universe truly Works! Just as the Sunshine and Rain are free, I am giving this Truth to the world for free! All I ask is that you do something with it! ???”

On the website referenced, Tcotlc.com, a banner reads, “This is the Truth — This is the Light — This is the Wave.”

Alright then!

It’s unclear if this new venture is really the next step for Terrence, but we hope it brings him some inner peace and a life he won’t have to “pretend” his way through.

The career retirement announcement comes three months after The Blast reported the TV patriarch is under federal investigation for criminal tax evasion. We wish him luck figuring out those legal woes without a source of income…

Thoughts on the big news? Did U see this coming? And, will U be tuning in to see Howard’s final days on-screen when his hit FOX show returns in the Fall?
