Terry Crews‘ wife Rebecca King-Crews is opening up about a very difficult health battle she’s been secretly facing for over a decade, and the revolutionary progress she has made.
The couple appeared on Monday’s episode of Today to reveal Rebecca has been battling Parkinson’s disease since 2015. Wow! She first noticed some “slight numbness in [her] left foot” around 2012. Her trainer then noticed her arm “did not swing” when she walked. Then one morning, she woke up, and her hand was shaking. She knew it was a tremor because her grandmother had experienced them.

Shockingly, the first doctor she turned to thought she was only struggling with anxiety! She pointed out:
“It’s not uncommon with us ladies for someone to call everything stress. … I asked for referrals, and I got them. And it took three years to diagnose me.”
She has continued to fight for herself every day — and it’s led to the discovery of a new, FDA-approved procedure she just underwent “to help with the symptoms on one side of [her] body.” And it’s already working! The 60-year-old shared:
“I’m seeing improvement in my symptoms. … I’m able to write my name, my dates, I’m able to write with my right hand for the first time in probably three years.”
That’s so wonderful!
She will “still [be] in recovery” for three months and should continue to see improvement as she recovers. But the progress is already remarkable. In videos taken prior to the procedure, while she was also taking no medication, her hands were trembling a lot. And then, in a video after the surgery, the difference on the right side of her body was instantly clear as her hand didn’t tremble at all. She’s set to undergo another operation in September for the other side of her body. She noted:
“Part of the procedure is improved symptoms, so you’re improved on one side [but] not on the other. However, each day that I do things, I’m aware of the benefit that’s already been to me on the one side of the body. So I’m looking forward to doing the left side.”
As for why she decided to speak out now, she expressed:
“I don’t believe in telling my story just so you can know my story and feel sorry for me. I really believe that this procedure and others like it are the new frontier of medicine. They were able to go into my brain without cutting me open — non-invasive at all.”
She added that she “wanted to potentially make it more available to others,” noting it’s an “expensive surgery [that’s] not covered yet” by insurance. But also:
“Just to give hope to people with Parkinson’s because I believe that we’re gonna find a cure.”
Incredible!
The Brooklyn Nine-Nine alum then shared his experience watching his wife go through this:
“To watch her go through what she’s gone through over the last 10 to 12 years has been very, very hard. The tremors, the not sleeping, the loss of balance. But to watch her write her name for the first time in three years, let me tell you, man. I don’t know what to say, I’m choked up just thinking about it. … She’s the rock of our lives. She’s a super hero.”
He also agreed she “did not want pity,” which is why she stayed quiet for so long.
“But now because of this procedure and because people don’t know about this, she said now is the time to tell so you can help someone else who can take advantage of what’s out here, the technology that’s out here right now.”
Rebecca, a mother of five, went on to say that her mantra throughout this period of her life has been, “Just keep walking.” She explained:
“Just keep going. And that’s what I’m going to keep doing. I believe that you don’t lay down and die because you got a diagnosis.”
And so through all this, she wrote a book and worked on an album and clothing line. Plus, she faced other health issues in 2020 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy. It’s truly amazing all she’s been through and how positive she remains.

We wish her well as she continues to heal from this procedure and hope any future operations continue to relieve her symptoms!
