Texas Doesn’t Like Abortion, So They've Decided To Sue Obama

Play your political games from your cushy, glided thrones, sacrificing basic needs for 100,000 women is a small price to pay, right? Boo!
So, Texas has a law (nicknamed the “poison pill” legislation) that prohibits funding of entities that promote or perform abortions, which passed in 2011. This law also states that if the federal government does not agree to this waiver, the program must be terminated.
Well, Texas has decided to sue the Obama administration for abiding by their own laws when they had to cease federal funding being given to the Texas Women’s Health Program because of Texas’ decision to prohibit funding of institutions that promote/perform abortions.
The lawsuit states:

“(The decision) violates the Constitution of the United States by seeking to commandeer and coerce the states’ lawmaking processes into awarding taxpayer subsidies to elective abortion providers.”

Cindy Mann, the director of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, has said that the federal government had no choice but to not renew the program because Texas’ refusal of funding programs that deal with abortions goes against federal law.
This is so utterly ridiculous, we can’t even take it seriously…and it seems Texas law makers AND the federal government don’t either.
Because it IS extremely serious. The only people who will actually suffer from this battle of ego are the 100,000 plus low-income women who benefit from the now destitute Women’s Health Program.
The program also performed breast and cervical cancer screenings and provided birth control. Were these women ever consulted when all this shiz was going down?? HAH, of course not.
PERHAPS if Texas hadn’t introduced the “poison pill” legislation back in 2011 which instigated this whole conflict, then NONE of this would be happening right now, and the lives of citizens wouldn’t be so easily dismissed.
Rick Perry HAS said that the state will provide some sort of state-funded alternative…but we are skeptical about what THAT will look like.
Way to go TEXAS government officials…our hearts go out to all the Texans who will suffer because of you.
