The French chapter of the Church of Scientology is on trial for fraud!!
Because Scientology is not a registered religion there, like it is here in the States, the Church is not protected legally by the French government.
The Church is being sued for a whopping $7 million dollars and will be forced to shut down camp in France if they’re found guilty of fraud.
A woman originally made the complaint in 1998 towards Scientologists, stating that she paid “more than [$33,000] for books, ‘purification packs’ of vitamins, sauna sessions and an ‘e-meter’ to measure her spiritual progress.”
Since then, hundreds of former members of the cult Church have made the same claims, adding that they were verbally harassed by Scientologists who “harassed them with phone calls and nightly visits to cajole them into paying their bills or taking out bank loans.”
As well as being charged with fraud, a handful of Xenu-lovers are being charged with “illegally practicing as pharmacists,” because the vitamins sold to former members of the church were actually medication they had no authorization to freely distribute.
Shady as fuck!
