Why The Rock Waited Nearly A Decade To Wed Longtime GF Lauren Hashian!

Dwayne the Rock Johnson waited

Nothing throws Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for a loop — except commitment, apparently!

As we reported, the Jumanji: The Next Level star got married to longtime girlfriend Lauren Hashian in a secret Hawaii ceremony back in August — after nearly a decade of dating and two beautiful children together!

In a new interview with WSJ Magazine for the mag’s December/January issue, the WWE icon opened up about why he waited so long before tying the knot a second time. Not surprisingly, it has everything to do with his now-defunct first marriage.

Admitting his 2008 divorce from Dany Garcia made him question whether or not he’d ever get hitched again, the 47-year-old star said:

“My divorce did a number on me. I wasn’t fearful of getting married again, there was just some hesitancy.”

“Some hesitancy” sounds like fear to us. Just sayin’.

Of course, that didn’t mean he wasn’t totally struck by Cupid’s arrow from the very start when he met Hashian while filming The Game Plan back in 2006. He recalled:

“Within 30 seconds, I thought, ‘Wow, this girl’s stunning.’ At the time, I was going through my breakup with Dany, and she was just coming off a big breakup too. Ironically, when you’re not looking for something, the power of the universe kind of takes over.”

We hear that a lot!

For Johnson and Hashian, the universe empowered them to welcome two daughters: 3-year-old Jasmine and 1-year-old Tiana

Although their family was growing, the actor — who also has an 18-year-old daughter, Simone, with Dany — said his lady love never pressured him to put a ring on it.

He noted:

“Lauren was incredibly patient: ‘I love you, you love me, we have this amazing life together — no presh.'”

Johnson then spoke on how they pulled off their covert Kauai ceremony, telling the outlet that he and his bride-to-be “had a full security detail in case there were helicopters,” adding:

“There was no press, no paparazzi. No one knew. I was shocked but so grateful. My life is so loud and noisy; the fact that it was quiet was a big win.”

It also didn’t hurt the only attendees at the 8 a.m. (!!) ceremony were nine adults from the couple’s “tight, tight circle.” He quipped:

“I’ve been up since 4, I’ve got an 8:30 workout — I gotta get this going, get to the part where ‘I do!'”

Ha!

Wishing the beautiful couple a lifetime of happiness!

Would you get hitched a second time if your first marriage didn’t work out??
