We’re not sure if we should pity this guy or just call him an idiot. But one homeowner in Georgia has just set his house on fire.
Galen Winchell decided to get rid of some cobwebs that were spreading around outside his home. But instead of taking them off with a broom or washing them off with the hose, the 59 year-old Winchell decided to go at them with a blowtorch!
So in the middle of torching some cobwebs, Winchell noticed smoke coming out from his home. That resulted in his 1,4000 square-foot home catching fire Wednesday morning.
Fire rescue was called and three engines and rescue squads had to be brought in. When they arrived, they noticed heavy smoke coming from the attic.
The power company had to be called in to disconnect the power which ran through the attic of the house. Luckily, according to the fire investigator, it “didn’t take long to put the fire out.”
The fire was contained to one end of the house but unfortunately there was water and smoke damage throughout.
The fire investigator said “This was an unfortunate accident. Nobody was hurt, but it could have been a lot worse.”
Note to everyone out there, don’t use a blow torch to get rid of cobwebs.
