Celebrity Feuds

In Unexpected Feud News, Tim Gunn HATES Marie Kondo!

Tim Gunn Marie Kondo Feud

Well, this could certainly end up being the most pristine celebrity feud we’ve ever seen.
Tim Gunn is always perfectly put together, not a hair out of place or a button undone. We guess that’s why he keeps getting asked to work with Marie Kondo.
The Project Runway star was on The One Way Ticket Show podcast earlier this month and got surprisingly messy.

Gunn said he had been asked twice to interview Kondo for the 92nd Street Y and twice turned down the opportunity. Why?
He isn’t a fan. Quite the opposite in fact. He explained:

“I’m not a believer. I don’t subscribe to her methods”

For those who haven’t experienced the cultural phenomenon that is Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, the Netflix show features the celebrity “organizing consultant” visiting the homes of everyday folks and directing them on how to reduce their clutter.
Her primary rule? Anything that doesn’t “spark joy” can be chucked right out the window.

Many buy in to Kondo’s belief that clean, stark living environments have psychological benefits, but the show is not without its detractors.
Count Gunn among them, as he jabs at the famous methodology:

“I have a huge number of books, as I’m sure you do. Do they all spark joy? Roget’s Thesaurus does not spark joy. Am I going to get rid of it? No!”

Ha! Gunn is not alone in his disdain for Kondo’s work.
Some critics have accused the author of pushing her own obsessive desire for everything up to her austere personal standards, regardless of the wants of needs of the individual.
But for Gunn it wasn’t just the premise — he thought Tidying Up even failed as a REALITY SHOW!
He recalled:

“I watched three minutes of the first episode and thought, ‘I can’t take this any longer.’ But then friends and colleagues said, ‘You really should try it. It’s actually a good show.’ So I thought, well, I’m going to watch the one.”

He watched an episode called “From Students to Improvements” in which Kondo helps a gay couple scale down their library.
And even he could not make it work:

“It took four, five sessions to get through that episode. I can only take so much of her! And I learned nothing that helped me with this whole process!”

One of his main complaints was how “slow” the whole thing seems to be going, even with the sped up editing of reality TV. He mused:

“At one point when she’s arriving in the morning, they all act as though they’ve never seen each other before. Well you were just here yesterday and it’s day 11! I would have thrown myself on my sword if Marie Kondo was coming to my apartment and it was day 11 of this! Let’s speed it up, people!”

We can’t wait to see if there’s a rebuttal. Marie Kondo’s living space may not have any free standing structures to cast shadows, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t capable of throwing shade! LOLz!
Whose side are YOU on??
