Timothée Chalamet just announced his new movie — but we’re not so sure Kylie Jenner is sharing his exciement!
On Sunday, the Call Me By Your Name actor took to his Instagram Story to tease a new project. Over the backdrop of a photo of a cloudy sky, he wrote:
“new movie announcement tmrw :)”
The 30-year-old included a rocket ship emoji. See (below):
Well, Monday came and went, and he kept his promise! Timmy announced on his IG Story that for the new project, he’s stepping into the world of animation for Illumination’s Not Alone — an alien-themed adventure! Cool! But what quickly began dominating the fan conversation wasn’t the project itself — but who the Oscar-nominated actor is set to star alongside… Any guesses?? We’ll give you a hint: she’s one of Kylie’s biggest rivals!
SELENA GOMEZ!
OMG! You mean THE Selena Gomez, who has for YEARS sparked feud rumors with Kylie’s bestie Hailey Bieber?! Sheesh!

According to a plot synopsis revealed by Universal Pictures, Timmy will play a character named Joe, an introverted rocket mechanic, while Selena will play Fran, an astro-botanist working on the world’s first plant-fueled rocket ship. Read the full synopsis (below):
“When Joe and Fran are brought together to prepare for the inaugural launch of this revolutionary rocket, there are immediate sparks, but neither is particularly adept at romance.”
Oof! So not only will Timmy be starring alongside Selena, but their characters will share a romantic spark! The synopsis continues:
“Life becomes more complicated when three aliens — tiny, unruly and adorable — take refuge in Joe’s home. Dunk, Welly and Shirm are on the interplanetary run from a zealous-yet-inept officer of the law named Zandro. The aliens determine that Fran’s rocket could provide their means of getting back home to safety.”
All the ingredients for a box office juggernaut are there! But on social media, fans just can’t help but talk about how awkward the pairing feels given all the long and winding history — and speculate on whether or not this means there’s a rift growing between Kylie and Timmy!

As we mentioned, Hailey is one of Kylie’s best friends. And over the past several years — pretty much ever since Hailey married Justin Bieber — fans have pitted the two women against each other online! The two celebs haven’t exactly shied away from occasionally shading one another, either… And who could forget the 2023 eyebrow lamination drama, which actually INVOLVED Kylie! In a TikTok at the time, Selena admitted she accidentally over-laminated her brows — and just hours later, Kylie posted a screenshot of a FaceTime with Hailey where they both put their own eyebrows on display. She captioned it:
“This was an accident?????”
Oof! This could get real messy real fast! But we’re sat for the press tour! Ha!
