TiVo Gets Extreme

This ain’t you daddy’s digital recorder no more!

TiVo is getting an upgrade to compete with cable companies who are now offering DVRs. The company is launching a new set-top boxes with a complete overhaul to its original user interface.

The new system , TiVo Premiere, will no only offer regular TV fare, but also give users the chance to watch Internet videos, feature films and listen to music.

If that doesn’t thrill you to switch, then consider two new options not found on your typical DVR. The company has joined forces with Adobe Flash to allow development of a plethora of third-party applications. Know those apps you love so much on your iPhone? Now you can get them on your TV!

And how about pesky commercials! Unless it is the Super Bowl, no one much cares for them. With this new TiVo, a new button “scans” though 30 seconds of footage, your average length of one commercial, in about one second. We’re sure the Hollywood suits just LOVE that!

So is that enough for U to leave your DVR behind for a whole new way of clinging to watching TV?
