When TLC unleashed a 20th anniversary edition of Waterfalls last month, they had no idea what they were in store for!
The hit single’s re-recording was critically panned because the band replaced the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes‘ rap verse one with one from Japanese pop star Namie Amuro!!
Even worse, they angered Left Eye’s family!!!
T & C likely never realized a remake without L would backfire so badly, but the band stands by their decision!
Chili and T-Boz‘s rep said:
“We were forced to use a creative way to honor Lisa’s memory and celebrate this milestone with the fans. We have and always will protect our sister├óΓé¼Γäós legacy as TLC consists of the three of us collectively … there will never be a replacement for Lisa or any members in TLC.”
Apparently the gals don’t even own the rights to Left Eye’s rap verse and couldn’t have used it in the song anyway!!!
Aww!! The new version was meant to be a celebration of the band’s two decades of accomplishments, but now it’s looking like more trouble than it was worth!
