Today Show Break-In Was ‘Incredibly Triggering’ For Savannah Guthrie After Mother Nancy’s Abduction: REPORT

The Today Show incident was exactly what Savannah Guthrie did NOT need right now.

On Thursday, a man identified as Andrew Truelove stormed Studio 1A Today set in Rockefeller Center reportedly in an attempt to confront Al Roker. When he couldn’t find Al, he turned his attention to Craig Melvin, reportedly lunging at him and shouting the N-word before being arrested by law enforcement.

So awful!

But while Craig may have been the victim of the incident, it reportedly hit Savannah HARD.

As we’ve been following, the Today host’s mother Nancy Guthrie was kidnapped from her Tucson, Arizona home in February and has yet to be found. The devastating incident has been incredibly traumatizing for Savannah, so the fact that another scary incident followed her to work has not been great for her mental health. On Friday, she was seen skipping town at LaGuardia Airport in NYC, one day after the intrusion. A source told DailyMail.com that she was actually no longer in the building at the time of the disturbance, but with everything that has happened with her mother, she found the incident “incredibly triggering.”

“The timing couldn’t have been more heartbreaking. How much more can one person take? After everything Savannah has endured with her family, this happened just moments after she walked off the set. It hit everyone hard, but it hit differently for her.”

That’s so unfortunate. She truly has endured more than anyone should ever have to. A second source told the outlet:

“This couldn’t have come at a worse time for her emotionally after everything she’s been through this year. Even though she had just left, just knowing it happened at her workplace is enough to shake anyone.”

Seriously!

Savannah was already set to take a hiatus from the talk show to film NBC’s new Wordle game show, and announced as much the day of the intrusion. On that front, the insider dished:

“Everyone is relieved she’s taking the next few weeks off to film another project. She’ll get some distance from all of this while everyone back here catches their breath.”

We certainly hope so. But in case her break is not enough, the source noted “nobody would blame Savannah if she decided she needed more time.”

“She’s been carrying an enormous emotional burden, and this was another shock. The feeling inside the show is that everyone wants her to put herself first.”

We’re so glad to hear that!

The outlet reported that in the wake of the incident, security around the building has tightened up. But in addition to that, “Savannah’s personal protection has also been increased.” One insider dished:

“The whole newsroom is protective of Savannah right now. People are worried less about the show and more about her. They just want her to be okay.”

We hope she’s able to decompress for a bit after a string of such scary incidents!
