A win for the Chrisley crew!
The two-year investigation into Todd and Julie Chrisley‘s alleged state tax liabilities has come to an end after the couple reached a settlement agreement with the Georgia Department of Revenue.

The reality stars were accused by the DOR of evading close to $2 million in state taxes from 2008 to 2016, but it’s since been found the two actually over-paid the state in four of those years, and owed nothing for the other four.
E! News confirmed the finding in a settlement agreement signed last week between the parties, which left the Mr. & Mrs. with a net liability of under $77k in overdue taxes.
In a statement to the publication, Todd shared:
“Julie and I knew all along that we had done nothing wrong and that when the facts all came out, we would be fine. We’re just glad that the Department of Revenue was willing to keep an open mind and look at all the evidence.”
The couple’s attorney Bruce H. Morris also spoke out, sharing:
“We have maintained from day one that there has not been any tax evasion by our clients Todd and Julie Chrisley. This settlement with the state is a big step in the direction of proving their innocence.”
In August 2019, both Todd and Julie pled not guilty after they were indicted on counts of tax evasion, wire fraud, conspiracy, and bank fraud. The USA stars attempted to get in front of the breaking news with a public plea of innocence, explaining via Instagram their issues started back in 2012 upon the discovery of an employee who had allegedly been stealing from them.
He explained, writing:
“I won’t go into details, but it involved all kinds of really bad stuff like creating phony documents, forging our signatures, and threatening other employees with violence if they said anything. We even discovered that he illegally bugged our home.”
So, how does all of that tie into the charges against them? Todd will tell ya! The father-of-five continued (below):
“Needless to say, we fired the guy and took him to court — and that’s when the real trouble started. To get revenge, he took a bunch of his phony documents to the U.S. Attorney’s office and told them we had committed all kinds of financial crimes, like tax evasion and bank fraud.”
To top off their money woes, the couple dealt with their own messy family drama at the same time when estranged daughter Lindsie Chrisley accused the patriarch and her half-brother of extorting her with a sex tape. It never ends!!
Who needs a TV show when all of this juiciness plays out in real life?!
