Tom Cruise thinks that acting is as tough as riding into an actual danger zone!
In a recent deposition for his libel case against a magazine that claimed he abandoned Suri, Tom said that location shoots were similar to serving a tour of duty in Afghanistan:
“That’s what it feels like. And certainly on this last movie, it was brutal. It was brutal.”
Tom would be correct IF the soldiers in Afghanistan were only using prop guns, no one died, and your enemies were actually paid extras.
Other than that…yeah, it’s still absolutely nothing like modern warfare.
Hmm we don’t think Tom can fully know what serving time in the military “feels like” unless he actually served time in the military. We’re not 100% sure, but most like acting in Born on the Fourth of July doesn’t count towards that.
If you’ll excuse us, we have to facepalm, shake our head, and groan for half an hour after learning about this.
