Tom Cruise LOST IT In Top Gun 3 Meeting, Says Insider -- But Wait Til You Hear What Set Him Off!

Tom Cruise Meltdown Top Gun 3 Val Kilmer

Another Tom Cruise meltdown leaked, another… time when we bet a lot of the general public will agree with him?

That audio of the superstar losing his cool on some crew members for breaking pandemic protocol on the Mission Impossible set was shocking. But ultimately we found most people were on his side. It’s not cool to be cavalier with the rules about stuff like that. Not only does it affect your co-workers’ safety, it can shut down production — costing a lot of folks their jobs! Well, we have another rare example of Tom going off… and we’re curious if you agree with him!

After the enormous success of Top Gun: Maverick, it’s no surprise they’re looking to make another installment. But what would it even be about? That’s what the most recent meeting was all about, per a source leaking to DailyMail.com. It sounds like it was a “blue sky” session where everyone throws out ideas for the next chapter. Usually anything goes in these story summits, no bad ideas. But it sounds like someone threw out a suggestion that made Tom furious!

Tom was a big driving force in getting Val Kilmer back for 2022’s sequel — something we thought we’d never see again after his health battles. But they were able to write his throat cancer into the script, and it turned into one of the most emotional scenes in blockbuster cinema ever!

Sadly, Val has now passed — just like his character Iceman. An insider says someone suggested at this meeting recreating him — using generative AI technology:

“Someone suggested bringing Val Kilmer back via Al. Tom jumped to his feet and let rip, leaving the entire room silent for literally minutes. You could almost hear a pin drop and see steam coming out of his ears.”

Wow! Sounds so intense! But… understandable, right?

First, they’re talking about a fake computer version of his dear friend. That’s been a hot button issue for the past decade as technology has advanced. Many consider it ghoulish to to exploit the likeness of deceased actors — who can no longer consent. Another source corroborated Tom’s disgust, saying:

“The moment he shared with Val in Maverick was such a beautiful experience, that when an AI Val was brought up, he wasn’t happy and quickly killed it because that would just bastardize everything. He did not want to be part of it. If Val isn’t here to appreciate or sign off on it, Tom is having none of it. He didn’t want to do that to Val. Will the movie reference Val? Yes, but Maverick is the last time we’ll see him.”

There are also enormous concerns recreating dead actors with AI is all a precursor to corporations replacing actors entirely. No contract negotiations with digital slaves, after all. Gross. There’s a reason this was a big point of contention during the SAG and WGA strikes in 2023.

But the AI aspect makes it even worse for Tom. Per the source:

“Tom’s stand on AI is that he despises it.”

That explains the plot of the last two Mission movies, where Ethan Hunt had to defeat his greatest adversary ever — an AI program called “The Entity.”

Tom Cruise vs The Entity

Can’t say we blame him there. AI may seem convenient and cheap to corporations, but it’s proven over and over to be a hugely untrustworthy mass plagiarism machine. When it can’t steal images — causing copyright lawsuits — it often just invents fake medical treatments, case law, etc. We def don’t blame Tom for being annoyed with whoever suggested this.

But what do YOU think? Would you have wanted to see an AI Val Kilmer looking not quite human in the next movie?
