Tom Holland has been preparing to get engaged to Zendaya for a long time!
After the actress appeared at the Golden Globes rocking an engagement ring, TMZ confirmed she and her Spider-Man co-star officially took the next step in their relationship and got engaged. Per sources, the proposal happened sometime between Christmas and New Year’s, and while it was a shock to us, it certainly wasn’t to Tom!

Sources close to the couple told TMZ on Monday that Tom actually met up with Z’s dad, Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, “months ago” to ask for his then-girlfriend’s hand in marriage. Aw! Apparently, this was a really important step in the process for the English actor, who is very traditional and felt it was important to get his future father-in-law’s blessing before taking action.
According to a Page Six insider, The Crowded Room alum also checked in with Zendaya’s mom, Claire Stoermer. They shared that the BERO founder “asked Zendaya’s dad for permission to marry her, but also asked her mom as well.” Sweet!
Of course, the patriarch said yes, and Tom got to planning. He waited a few months because he wanted the milestone moment to go down at the perfect time, TMZ sources continued. He was in the States to be with Zendaya’s family for the holidays, and that’s when he chose to pop the question. Previous sources noted that the intimate proposal happened with no other relatives around, though.
That said, the Challengers star’s family is super excited for her and loves Tom, who they believe is “a class act.” He certainly proved that by showing her father so much respect and asking him first! We continue to be so happy for them!
