Everybody is buzzing about the Super Bowl right now — pondering whether the Kansas City Chiefs can win the big game and secure a three-peat.
But everybody is also buzzing about what Travis Kelce might do after the game against the Philadelphia Eagles on February 9 down in New Orleans! After all, he’s already 34 and has done pretty much everything he can possibly do on the field — whether or not he and his Chiefs teammates win this one down in the Big Easy.
So, does that mean retirement is automatic for the aging gridiron great?! Will he head off into the sunset with girlfriend Taylor Swift in another couple weeks and enjoy his post-football life?? Nooooope! Not yet, at least!

On Monday night, a source spoke to DailyMail.com about Travis’ post-football plans and clarified that… there aren’t any! As in, win or lose, Kelce apparently wants to keep playing for at least another year! Yes, really!
The insider referenced how Travis’ big bro Jason Kelce has had a great post-football life following his retirement before last season, but claimed Travis is NOT ready to go that same route quite yet:
“When it comes to his success in acting and podcasting and seeing the opportunities his brother has had after his retirement, Travis is not ready to retire himself.”
This apparently doesn’t hinge on whether the Chiefs win or lose against the Eagles next Sunday, either! According to that source, if Kelce and Patrick Mahomes score a victory in the big game, Travis wants to return for another season and a shot at a four-peat. And if they don’t win?! Well, vengeance will be front of mind for Taylor’s beau:
“Whether the Chiefs win or lose, he would want to either go for the four-peat or avenge losing in the Super Bowl and would love to try to get back there.”
The insider admitted that retirement questions are starting to become a very frequent topic for the University of Cincinnati alum, but Trav simply ain’t finished yet:
“He understands he is in good shape professionally and personally when he retires, but as he gets asked about in the next two weeks, he wants to stay in the league. He still believes he has more to give.”
Wow!
And for now, all the source could say was for those of us who are curious about it to ask again next year:
“Ask the same question next year, then we might have a conversation, but right now all his intentions are to stay with the Chiefs and play in the NFL next season whether they win or lose the Super Bowl.”
Seems like there’s a LOT more football left to be played in Travis’ life!
Are y’all surprised by that?! (We kind of are, TBH!) Or did you already expect him to return for another season no matter what happens against Philly in the big game??
