WTF??? Tucker Carlson Says Women Earning More Than Men Causes 'More Drug And Alcohol Abuse'

Tucker Carlson Sexism

If Tucker Carlson wanted to be remembered for something other than being the bow-tied loser who got embarrassed so bad in a debate with Jon Stewart on his own show, he got canceled, um… congratulations, we guess?
Lately he’s going full right-wing crackpot instead.
First he said immigrants coming into the country made the United States “poorer and dirtier.”
Ew.

Now it seems he’s aiming to eradicate his remaining sponsors by jumping from xenophobia to sexism, making the outrageous claim giving women higher paying jobs would lead to “more drug and alcohol abuse” and “higher incarcerations rates.”
No, we did not take him out of context. Here’s what he said:

“Study after study has shown that when men make less than women, women generally don’t want to marry them. Maybe they should want to marry them but they don’t. Over big populations, this causes a drop in marriage, a spike in out of wedlock births and all the familiar disasters that inevitably follow, more drug and alcohol abuse, higher incarcerations rates, fewer families formed in the next generation.”

See for yourself!

First off, and we can’t believe we have to say this, none of what he’s saying makes any sense.
Even if there WERE actual studies to back up ANYTHING he’s throwing out there as fact, he’s making logic leap after logic leap.
Anyone can do it. Here, like this:

“As a society gets more scientifically advanced, people watch more TV. People who watch over a certain amount of TV are more likely to be obese. Obesity correlates to medical conditions that contribute to lower life expectancy. So scientific advancement clearly leads to shorter lifespans.”

See? We used correlations to jump to the conclusion we wanted — even though it’s the exact opposite of what really happens.
The bigger issue isn’t Tucker’s ludicrous method but his sinister intent.
If you can’t see this for the patriarchal fearmongering against equal pay it is, for the dog whistle hinting women really belong at home barefoot and pregnant, well… you’re probably just the kind of viewer Fox News needs.
