Beautiful!
While most magazines rely on cleavage and big names to draw readers to their pages, The Australian Women’s Weekly went with a different approach.
They asked inspirational burns survivor Turia Pitt to be on their July cover, whose sheer beauty and confidence alone are more than worthy!
The 26-year-old mining engineer was caught in a bushfire three years ago while running in an ultra-marathon with doctors giving her a slim chance of survival after suffering burns to 64% of her body.
Well, she’s since proved them wrong, overcoming the recovery obstacles, and is currently raising funds for Interplast, a reconstructive surgery charity!
Clearly, editor-in-chief Helen McCabe couldn’t have picked a star more perfect. She even said of their choice:
“For eighty years the Women’s Weekly has been celebrating inspirational Australian women. When Turia was photographed as part of our Women of the Future judging panel among a group of similarly impressive Australian women, it was clear from the moment she sat in front of the camera that the July cover had to belong to her├óΓé¼┬ªAny attempt to describe the magic and beauty of Turia seems to get lost in platitudes or clich├â┬⌐s. Yet I have never met a more remarkable person.”
Well done!
And what makes the cover more perfect is that they didn’t treat Turia differently than any other cover girl. Instead of focusing on her burns, it’s all about her life now.
What an inspiration!
