After all the Twitpic nonsense of ownership of user-uploaded photos (their fine print says they can sell images posted through them for publication without authorization from the uploader, and take legal action against people using them without permission), Twitter has unveiled its own photo and video search service that lets users own the rights to the photos they post!
Not only that, but, it “makes search results more personalized and makes the results of more authoritative tweeters prominent.”
It’ll be available to everyone on Twitter in the next few weeks, and has limited availability right now:
The service will eliminate some friction that users face when trying to post images. It will also allow links to videos to be posted, but users cannot upload videos.
Good. We need more solutions like this!
We bet Twitpic is feeling the backlash now, as they should.
