But who we really feel bad for is all those below-the-line people who’ve now lost their jobs for the next two months. So sad.
After lengthly discussions between Warner Bros and the Two and A Half Men producers, it has been decided to shut down the rest of the season, due to Charlie Sheen’s inability to prove to them he can handle getting back to work without causing problems. Of course, it didn’t help matters that Charlie went on a verbal rampage yesterday, tearing his executive producer (among others) to shreds.
Last night, the studio released this official statement to announce the news, saying:
“Based on the totality of Charlie Sheen├óΓé¼Γäós statements, conduct and condition, CBS and Warner Bros. Television have decided to discontinue production of ├óΓé¼┼ôTwo and a Half Men├óΓé¼┬¥ for the remainder of the season.”
Ugh. Such a mess. We can’t really blame the studio for wanting to cut ties with Charlie and indeed, sources report that the studio has vowed never to work with him again.
But please, think long and hard before you cancel the show all together. Give your writers enough credit to find a way to keep the show engaging with Jon Cryer and the kid. It could work. Give them a shot.
