Celeste Rivas‘ family seeks justice.
TMZ has uncovered the details of a new wrongful death lawsuit filed by 14-year-old Celeste’s family against real name David Anthony Burke AKA D4vd. The outlet reports they’re also suing his business manager, Josh Marshall, his live-in security guard, Sheldon Jacques, and his mother, Colleen Burke, among other entities.
D4vd, who has pleaded not guilty in the criminal case, currently faces trial on charges of first degree murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains. Now he’ll have to face this new legal hurdle as well.

As for why the others are listed? The slain teenager’s family argues those around the singer either did or should have known Celeste was being exploited and should have taken steps to stop it.
Celeste’s family is serious about D4vd facing consequences. They’ve previously confirmed they will support the death penalty should he be found guilty in trial, saying in a statement:
“If the death penalty were activated, it would be perfect for this kind of human being, devoid of feelings and emptiness inside, and without conscience, who only caused pain to our daughter, our family, and the world that supports our precious daughter. But that’s not in our hands, but rather in God’s and the California justice system.”
D4vd is currently being represented by a public defender.

As we previously covered, Celeste’s remains were found in a state of advanced decomposition in September 2025 after the literal scent of decay became apparent from an impounded Tesla at a Hollywood tow yard.
In court documents filed by prosecutors in April 2026, it was alleged that D4vd made several alarming Amazon purchases in April and May 2025 after allegedly stabbing Celeste to death: TWO chainsaws, a blue inflatable pool, heavy duty laundry bags, and a body bag.
He has since pleaded not guilty and continues to be housed at the Los Angeles County Twin Towers Correctional Facility since his April 2026 arrest.
A date has not yet been scheduled for the murder trial, but his next hearing is October 19.
