Remember how intensely angry Uma Thurman was when interviewed a few months ago about the Harvey Weinstein sexual misconduct scandal?
Well, now we know why: the Kill Bill star revealed to the New York Times this morning that she, too, was assaulted by Weinstein.

Thurman has previously been very dismissive of Weinstein just in general, but now we’ve learned that Weinstein also tried to force himself on her as he had so many other actresses in the industry over the last several decades.
Speaking with Maureen Dowd of the NYT, Thurman tells a story about how Weinstein’s “bathrobe came out” during a meeting at a London hotel, where the film exec later did all sorts of inappropriate, awful things to her.
Thurman said (below):
“He pushed me down. He tried to shove himself on me. He tried to expose himself. He did all kinds of unpleasant things. But he didn’t actually put his back into it and force me.”
Uma also recounted how she feels guilty because, by virtue of her own work with Weinstein and those enabling him, she wondered if younger actresses also decided to work with him — and were thus affected by him — following in her footsteps.
Thurman said about that:
“The complicated feeling I have about Harvey is how bad I feel about all the women that were attacked after I was. I am one of the reasons that a young girl would walk into his room alone, the way I did. Quentin used Harvey as the executive producer of Kill Bill, a movie that symbolizes female empowerment. And all these lambs walked into slaughter because they were convinced nobody rises to such a position who would do something illegal to you, but they do.”
