Instead of fighting the studio suits the two main actors’ unions are fighting one another!

The bigger of the unions, the Screen Actors’ Guild, has asked the other union, AFTRA, to hold off on moving forward with its deal with the suits.

SAG feels like they’ll make more progress with the big media moguls if AFTRA holds back.

AFTRA has said no.

Both unions have members that overlap. AFTRA’s members work in daytime TV and radio. SAG’s members appear in nighttime TV and film.

AFTRA has warned SAG that it might pursue legal remedies if SAG tried to “undermine or interfere with our ratification process.”

AFTRA members are set to vote on the new contract later this month.

SAG and the AMPTP met 18 times from April 15 through May 6 without reaching an agreement.

It’s a shame that they can’t find a way to work together.

Strength in numbers – divided you fall, right?

The suits must be loving this bickering!
