CEO Shooting Twist! Suspect Luigi Mangione Wasn't Even Covered By UnitedHealthcare!

Was Alleged Insurance CEO Killer Luigi Mangione Covered By UnitedHealthcare?? NYPD's Surprising Find...

Another twist as more details continue to trickle in on the UnitedHealthcare CEO killing case.

Earlier this month, the international insurance company’s chief executive officer Brian Thompson was shot to death on a Manhattan sidewalk in the early morning hours prior to one of the company’s board meetings. In the aftermath, a national manhunt ensued to find his killer. And days ago, a 26-year-old man named Luigi Mangione was arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania and charged with murder in connection to Thompson’s death.

Ever since, the New York Police Department‘s detectives — as well as a bevy of social media sleuths — have been poring over the case. In recent days, evidence has continued to mount against Mangione. Too much evidence for some critics’ liking as internet investigators have uncovered all kinds of creepy conspiracies.

The part that’s been easiest to understand? How dealing with the casual cruelty of a health insurance could drive someone in intense pain to strike back. Many are even cheering on Luigi!

But now, a shocking left turn is just in from the NYPD: the accused killer apparently wasn’t even insured by UnitedHealthcare. Like, EVER!

According to a report from CNBC on Thursday evening, NYPD detectives have found no evidence to indicate that Mangione ever had insurance under UnitedHealthcare’s business umbrella. Instead, the city police department’s chief of detectives Joseph Kenny told the outlet:

“We have no indication that he was ever a client of UnitedHealthcare.”

Whoa!

However… regarding Mangione’s manifesto and other indications possibly pointing towards a motive for the murder, Kenny did note that there could be other reasons for the targeted attack. Most notably, Thompson might have been targeted in this case because UHG is massive! Kenny theorized:

“But [Mangione] does make mention that it is the fifth largest corporation in America, which would make it the largest healthcare organization in America. So, that’s possibly why he targeted that company.”

Just a few weeks before the attack, Investopedia published a report that named UnitedHealth Group as the fifth largest company in the WORLD. It has annual revenues approaching $400 billion, logged last year’s net income north of $14 billion, and has a market capitalization sitting at a jaw-dropping $542.65 billion. Jeez! And of course there’s the fact under Thompson, UHC infamously began employing an AI algorithm to more efficiently reject claims, despite being wrong most of the time. That’s a new level of inhumanity.

But the targeting of Thompson may have been more about convenience.

See, Kenny also told CNBC that Mangione allegedly had “prior knowledge” of where Thompson would be on December 4 — the morning of the conference to which the slain CEO had been heading when he was shot and killed outside the Hilton Hotel in midtown Manhattan. Kenny said:

“[Mangione] had prior knowledge that the conference was taking place on that date at that location.”

Obviously, that might lead to interesting future developments as to what the alleged killer knew, how he knew it, and when the plot was formulated. And of course, if Brian Thompson was just intended to be the first CEO the killer planned on taking out.

Of course, the investigation into this situation is still in its infancy. Much, much more to come…
