Walmart might soon have even more legal issues to deal with.
Walmart Stores Inc has reported in a securities filing that it has started an internal investigation to determine if employees have bribed foreign officials.
The SEC filing yesterday states that Walmat began a voluntary internal review of its policies relating to its global anti-corruption compliance program.
They stated:
“The company has begun an internal investigation into whether certain matters, including permitting, licensing and inspections, were in compliance with the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
The company has voluntarily disclosed its internal investigation to the U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission.”
Looks like this might be a huge issue for the company to deal with, though they remain optimistic that it won’t interfere with its daily business.
