Website Hosts Pics Of Real Women, Real Bodies

My Body Gallery

A new website aims to show women what real women look like, and hopefully deconstruct their body insecurities.

It’s called My Body Gallery, and lets women post pictures wearing anything, anytime, without their faces so there’s no identification.

“A recent study found that 95% of non-eating disordered women overestimate the size of their hips by 16% and their waists by 25%, yet the same women were able to correctly estimate the width of a box,” the site explains. “Two out of five women and one out of five men would trade three to five years of their life to achieve their weight goals.” After you upload your photo you can classify your shape as a banana, apple, pear, or hourglass.

The real question is, does it work?

The website is still relatively new, so there hasn’t been much of any collected data or reviews from the women submitting, but we think that this is a positive thing.

Nobody’s being rated, there’s no comment section. Only views. And if you ask us, showing that not every girl out there has to be rail thin can only be a good thing. As long as they’re happy and healthy!

We’re innerested in seeing where this goes, and what kinds of reactions there are to it down the road!
