Why should movie studios have all the fun? Television should be allowed to produce remakes too! And that is just what the Sony Pictures Television studio and producer Mark Burnett are doing.
Fantasy Island, the classic late 70s TV show, will now be turned into a competitive reality show. This new island show will find 12 contestants competing to make their fantasies become realities.
Burnett explains:
“Fantasy Island has all of the elements of a hit series an exotic location, dream fulfillment, competition and most of all, emotional story telling. Not only is the competition exciting, but the stories of the people whose fantasies are being fulfilled will be extremely compelling.”
Uh-huh. There isn’t much left that American audiences find extremely compelling anymore when it comes to reality TV. Unless there is a big smoke monster and Matthew Fox running around the island, we don’t see very big things coming from this series.
