Wendy Williams made a very rare public appearance this week by attending her son Kevin Hunter Jr.‘s college graduation from Florida International University on Thursday.
In a photo obtained by People, the former talk show host could be seen riding in a red scooter, complete with a Louis Vuitton cup holder and a front pouch covered in Chanel logos. For the special occasion, the proud mother wore a sparkly low-cut black dress, black boots, and a large “W” necklace.

Wendy was joined by her father Thomas Williams Sr. and her sister Wanda Finnie. She shares her only son with ex-husband Kevin Hunter, whom she split from in 2019.
It was an emotional day for the whole family as Wendy could be seen wiping away tears later during the ceremony. Per the college’s commencement program via the New York Post, Kevin Jr. graduated from the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. After taking some time off from school in 2021 and 2022 to help care for his momma, this must have been such a huge moment for them all to witness!
On her way out of the event, Wendy was protected by a few police officers, too. This sighting comes just over a month after her legal guardian Sabrina Morrissey declared she was “cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated” as a result of early-onset dementia, but her family has argued things aren’t as dire as the guardian has made them seem. So, while it remains tense BTS, it’s great she was able to be there for her son!
