Whitney Cummings Slams Former Co-Star Chris D'Elia's Alleged 'Predatory Behavior'

Whitney Cummings responds to the allegations against Chris D'Elia

Whitney Cummings is now speaking out against her former co-star, Chris D’Elia, and it ain’t good.

The 37-year-old comedian and actress took to Twitter on Saturday to discuss the allegations levied against D’Elia, who co-starred opposite her on her sitcom, Whitney, from 2011 to 2013. And while Cummings sure sounded shocked and saddened by the allegations, she was also quick to note she “will not be silent” any longer in keeping comedy a safe space for women.

Writing on Twitter in the middle of the day on Saturday, the famous comedian gave a strongly-worded message about the sordid affair, saying (below):

“It’s taken me a couple days to process the information I have learned about Chris. I’m devastated and enraged by what I’ve read and learned. This is a pattern of predatory behavior. This abuse of power is enabled by silence. Now that I’m aware, I won’t be silent. Girls should be able to be a fan of a comedian they admire without becoming a sexual target. It’s the adult’s responsibility to be an adult.”

As you can see, she received quite a bit of support online for her stance here:

Wow.

Of course, as we’ve been reporting, D’Elia is facing significant online backlash right now after being accused of grooming underage girls for years, eventually requesting sexual photos over the internet.

D’Elia has not been charged with any crime, but he did open up a bit about the allegations against him in a previous statement sent out earlier this week. In it, he said:

“I know I have said and done things that might have offended people during my career, but I have never knowingly pursued any underage women at any point. All of my relationships have been both legal and consensual and I have never met or exchanged any inappropriate photos with the people who have tweeted about me. That being said, I really am truly sorry. I was a dumb guy who ABSOLUTELY let myself get caught up in my lifestyle. That’s MY fault. I own it. I’ve been reflecting on this for some time now and I promise I will continue to do better.”

Hmmm… conveniently-timed apology now that he’s been caught, total blow-off excuse to ride out the controversy, or does he really mean what he says here?!

One thing is for sure: this whole situation has seriously affected his former co-star in Cummings, who no doubt must have been shocked to find out the allegations against the comic were as serious as they are.
