More than a few Rose Parade fans were upset and outraged over Amazon Prime‘s live coverage on Monday — probably because they didn’t realize it was one giant Funny or Die sketch.
Back in November, the streamer announced that Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon would be playing fictional TV anchors to host a special parody streaming of the 129th Rose Parade.
Not everyone got the memo, however, and took to the review section to make it clear that Cord Hosenbeck and Tish Cattigan should NEVER be asked to host a parade again. (“Comedy act possible,” one disgruntled reviewer admitted.)

While many viewers were delighted by The 2018 Rose Parade Hosted by Cord & Tish, with 52% giving the broadcast a 5-star review, those who held the Rose Parade close to their hearts were not as impressed.
40% of viewers bombarded the Saturday Night Live alumni for making “crude,” “unfunny” jokes — though a large chunk of these critics didn’t seem to realize it was all a gag!
Those unaware of the spoof blasted “Cord and Tish” for giving inaccurate information about the floats, talking over the bands, harassing special correspondent Tim Meadows, and making disgusting commentary — like how the students of OU have to “poop their pants” due to a lack of indoor plumbing.

“I am very dissaponted with the hosts commentary. Really was looking forward in viewing the parade but hosts added little info about the floats or bands etc. Seemed to have their own idea of what the parade is about. Had to turn it off. People have worked hard to for a full year … I would never recommend Cort and Tish as hosts of a live parade. Comedy act possible.”
“Horrible commentary! I had looked forward to this, but had to turn it off. It was not funny, but disrespectful, crude, and offensive. I turned it off, hugely disappointed. Big fail, Amazon!”
“I couldn’t stomach anymore! The hosts were awful not giving any facts about the floats or commenting on wat we were seeing. Instead they were harassing Tim Meadows about his time on Saturday Night Live (something he told them clearly on two separate occasions that he didn’t want to discuss). They kept thinking they were off mic and having conversations, the general public didn’t want to hear or were appropriate… Thank you Mr. Cord especially for ruining our Rose Parade 2018 viewing experience.”
“Please stop talking!!!! Can’t hear any of the bands. You say listen in and keep talking. Perhaps your [mics] are still on and don’t know it? We want to hear the bands not you two. I really don’t care that you are afraid of horses.”
“I love the Rose Parade and watch it every year but Cord and Tish are absolutely ruining the parade! Especially Cord! I’m sorry, but Cord is a complete idiot. His comments are ridiculous, idiotic and sometimes disrespectful. I feel like Tish could actually host well but unfortunately she is following Cord’s lead and is acting immature as well instead of trying to calm him down.”
“Cord and Tish are THE worst hosts. Inane chatter, obnoxious comments. Just be quiet, announce the facts, give parade background info and let us ENJOY the parade.”
“This was the worst hosts and presentation of the Rose Parade that I have been watching for the past 50 years. There was minimal presentation of the floats, the types of floral material used to cover them, the bands and float award winners. Instead we were subjected to comments on SNL, how much Omega-3 should be included in your diet, how trashy Cord’s garage is, whether they achieved their 2016 resolutions and the list goes on. Floats and bands marched by without presentation. It is hard to believe these two have been hosting for 25 years!!”
