The idea of a plane with no windows might make you think of being inside a flying submarine, but don’t worry, on this plane you’ll be able to see outside thanks to a little thing called science!
That’s right, the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) based in northeast England has early stage concepts for full length screens that would replace airplane windows, and display images from cameras placed on the plane’s exterior.
In addition, this technological wizardry would make the main body of the plane lighter.
The technology would involve organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), which would send out light when activated by electricity. Passengers’ views would change with the direction of their eyes, and they could even switch the view off if they wanted.
While the technology is still being worked on, we hope these windowless planes start happening soon!
