Wisconsin Teen Allegedly Stabbed Mom To Death After Being Inspired By Netflix Documentary About Menendez Brothers

A teen boy in Wisconsin has been accused of murdering his own mom after being inspired by a documentary about the Menendez brothers.

According to a Wisconsin Circuit Court criminal complaint, 15-year-old Reed Felinskey has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide and will be tried as an adult after allegedly killing his mother, Suzanne Gelinskey. Brace yourselves for these disturbing details, Perezcious readers. The complaint states that at around 10:30 p.m. on March 4, the Caledonia Police Department responded to a report about a “juvenile who stabbed his mother to death.” A girl claimed she received a photo on Snapchat from Reed showing a female lying face-up on her back “with blood on the floor,” and he told her “needed help and that he stabbed his mother to death.”

When police arrived at the scene, they said they found Reed leaving the house. As officers approached him, the documents state he “dropped a brown and silver kitchen knife” before admitting to the brutal crime:

“He then made statements for officers to kill him and stated, ‘She is dead,’ and ‘She is dead from what I did.’”

The complaint claims Reed “later made an excited utterance stating he struck his mother over the head with a dumbbell in an attempt to knock her out so he could stab her with the knife.”

OMG…

Inside the home, police recalled what the scene looked like — and it’s gruesome. They said they discovered an “unresponsive” female, later identified as Suzanne, with “apparent stab wounds and blood-soaked clothing.” Cops then found the kitchen knife Reed dropped on the front stoop before discovering another blooded knife and “silver adjustable dumbbell bar” in the kitchen.

Cops arrested the teenager and took him to the Caledonia Police Department, where he detailed the brutal murder. During an interview with police, the complaint alleged Reed recalled he came home from school on Tuesday feeling depressed “and an urge to kill his parents” – both of them, not just his mother. He allegedly told law enforcement he had been taking his brother’s anxiety medication “for about a month.” On Tuesday night, the court documents claimed he “took approximately 9 pills and that it does not help his anxiety, but it makes him high and he enjoys that.”

Reed allegedly admitted he searched for a hammer “because he was going to kill his father when he came home from work but could not find one large enough.” Jeez. Following dinner, police shared that he then said he was sitting on the couch with his mom and put on the Netflix documentary about the Menendez Brothers.

As you most likely know, The Menendez Brothers is about the 1989 murders of Jose and Kitty Menendez by their sons, Lyle and Erik. Watch the trailer (below):

According to the complaint, Reed told the police that he “turned on the Menendez Brothers documentary on Netflix” and while watching, he “then developed the plan to kill his parents.” The teen said, per the docs, the alleged murder plot “came to him while he watched the ‘shotgun scene.’” What the f**k.

Reed allegedly “got up and hid his sleeping medication” once his mom went upstairs at around 9:50 p.m. Per police, he then said he grabbed a steak knife, put it in his pocket, and called for his mother to tell her he couldn’t find his pills. Reed also stated he “hid a dumbbell bar in the sleeve of his sweatshirt” when Suzanne came downstairs to help him track down the medication. When her mom’s back was to him, that is when he struck. The complaint read:

“Gelinskey stated while his mother’s back was to him he hit her twice in the head with the dumbbell. Gelinskey said he thought she would fall over but she did not so he threw her to the ground and grabbed the knife. Gelinskey said she tried to kick him off of her approximately 7 times but eventually he stabbed her three times in the chest and twice in the neck.”

So awful…

With her last breath, Reed claimed his mom “asked him, ‘why,” to which he only replied, ‘pain.’” Following the slaying, the teen then contacted a female friend on Snapchat, telling “her to call the police.” And you know what happened from there.

WITI reported that Reed has since appeared in court via Zoom from a juvenile detention center on Thursday. Racine County District Attorney Patricia Hanson said about the case:

“This was an extremely violent but planned offense. It’s dangerous in its nature. His original plan was not for just the one victim but for two.”

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 12. Learn more about the case (below):
