More than 1,200 women trusted Rachel Rapraeger with their lives without even knowing it.
Now, the Georgia radiology technician is headed to prison after passing along clean bills of health to these patients without having a doctor look at their breast cancer scans!
Rapraeger told authorities that she became disinterested in her job, which caused a backlog of work to be done. In order to catch up, she entered in negative results to 1,289 women who hadn’t even been given a diagnosis!
In actuality, ten of those patients from Perry Hospital DID have breast cancer! And now two of them have died!
This makes us sick to our stomachs!
This week, a judge sentenced Rachel to six months in prison, ten years of probation, a $12,5000 fine and a ban from working in the medical field for a decade.
In our opinion, not enough!
Several of the victims, now suffering from the disease, were seated in the courtroom during Rachel’s sentencing. They were given an opportunity to address the woman who carelessly handed them false hope.
Sharon Holmes was given a clean bill of health but learned two months later that she had breast cancer and that it had already spread to her lymph nodes. She told Rachel:
“You could have made a different decision and my family and I would not be living this nightmare. If I’m living a sentence for having cancer then you should live a sentence behind bars.├óΓé¼┬¥
Unfortunately, two of those affected by this horrendous oversight weren’t able to see justice served.
You should be ashamed of yourself, Ms. Rapraeger!
