A 32-year-old woman is behind bars and her mother has been chopped up into pieces after a grisly discovery was made in a home in small-town Kentucky on Wednesday.
Torilena Fields (pictured above, in her mugshot) is currently being held at the Bourbon County Detention Center after authorities found the dismembered remains of her mother at the home they shared. The discovery occurred in Mount Olivet, a small town with a population just under 300 people in rural northern Kentucky halfway between Cincinnati and Lexington.
According to jail records obtained by WLWT and other local news outlets, Fields was originally arrested in neighboring Robertson County, where the home in question is, before being transported across county lines to jail. As of Friday morning, she is facing charges of obstructing governmental operations, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of corpse — with cops saying more charges are likely ahead as the investigation continues.

This gruesome saga began on Tuesday when several workers showed up at Fields’ home to perform previously scheduled maintenance. When they got there, the suspect began “casting spells on them” and was “being confrontational” while demanding that they leave. Alarmed, the workers reached out to cops in Robertson County. And that’s when all hell broke loose.
Per court docs cited by FOX 56 News and others, Kentucky State Police officers showed up at the maintenance workers’ request and reportedly found a “dismembered body” outside the home. It was next to a blood-stained mattress that lay out in the open at the end of a trail of blood running all the way out from the back door. The docs state that blood-splattered “drag marks” were also seen running from the back door of the house all the way through the grass to where the body was discovered.
It wasn’t a whole body, though. Its arms, legs, and head had been removed, per cops. Even worse, the remaining torso was “severed in half” with its organs missing. And next to the body was a blood-stained stick, along with a pile of hair.
WTF?!
But it gets so much darker. Fields had remained in the house as investigators were outside, and she holed herself up in there for hours. KSP’s Special Response Team was eventually activated. They deployed tear gas and a robot in an attempt to get Fields to leave the home. The ensuing standoff lasted for 11 hours before she finally came outside. And when she did, per the docs, the woman “appeared to have blood on her face, hands, and clothing.”
Cops arrested her and then rushed into the house to see if anybody else was there. Once inside, they found body parts that “appeared to have been cooked” inside a pot that was still in the oven. In just a handful of words, KSP officials laid out our worst nightmare:
“The pot was still warm to the touch.”
OMG…
On account of the condition of the remains, the identity of the victim wasn’t readily apparent to police. However, per WLWT on Friday morning, an autopsy later definitively identified the victim as Torilena’s mother Trudy Fields. Per cops, Trudy had been the homeowner, and the one who filed the maintenance request that first alerted police to her eventual death.

Like we noted, as of Friday morning, Torilena has NOT yet been charged with murder. Cops are still trying to piece together the timeline of events and figure out exactly what killed her poor mother. For now, KSP investigators expect that drug use on Torilena’s part may be a factor in the case. No kidding…
In a statement to the media, the KSP concluded:
“Pending further investigation more charges may be filed.”
Per TooFab, Torilena’s first court date to face the charges filed against her is scheduled for next Monday.
