This young mom died by suicide — but told a friend in her final message that she “was murdered.” What’s going on??
Kiena Dawes took her own life, there’s no question about that. She was found by British Transport Police on a railway line in Barnacre on July 22, 2022, having been struck by a high-speed train. But the 27-year-old’s boyfriend, Ryan Wellings, is on trial for manslaughter anyway. And it all comes down to what he did do to her before she finally broke.
According to prosecutors on Tuesday, per the BBC, Kiena went to a friend’s home while they were in the shower and left her 9-month-old daughter — and a note. It read:
“The end. I fought hard, I fought long. I went through pain no one could imagine. I was murdered. Ryan Wellings killed me. He ruined every bit of strength I had left. I didn’t deserve it. I hope my life saves another by police services acting faster. Don’t let bullies live free.”
The Fleetwood mom also wrote to her daughter that she hoped she would be “kept away from the monster who is called her dad.” Heartbreaking.

What was she talking about??
Per the prosecution, the couple were together for two toxic years in which he got increasingly abusive. Apparently Kiena was diagnosed with Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder — and instead of treating her with sensitivity and patience, he allegedly “exploited that vulnerability” with awful behavior. The jury heard in opening arguments how Ryan would accuse her of sleeping around, call her names, was controlling and manipulative. He would also allegedly physically abuse her. In one instance, they were told, he tried to strangle her with a iPhone cord; another time he threw a stool at her; another he dragged her across the floor.
He also allegedly yelled at her to kill herself.
The final incident of physical abuse, jurors were told, was just 11 days before she stepped in front of that train. So is he to blame? That’s what the jury is set to decide after hearing all the evidence.
If this is all true, do you agree he should be held responsible?
