YouTuber Alysha Burney Dies In Her Sleep One Day Before 25th Birthday Amid Mexico Vacation

YouTuber Alysha Burney Found Dead At 24 During Birthday Trip To Mexico

Social media star Alysha Burney from Kansas City passed away in her sleep on March 2 while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. She was just 24 — and her birthday was the very next day. Oof.

Alysha had over 5 million followers across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. She also ran her own production company called ABurneyProductions and produced several films on her YouTube channel, such as Shiesty, Shiesty II, Lost Angeles, and her latest, Hot Girl Get Away.

As for what happened, her brother Charles Burney told Fox 4 on Monday that she died after suffering an asthma attack while she was asleep. He was with her when she passed. Her official cause of death has not been disclosed.

Despite being on vacation, he insisted there was no other factor to her death, dispelling rumors:

“She does not do drugs. She was a self-loving and happy individual who cherished her life and was looking forward to the upcoming year’s plans. She was in Mexico to celebrate her birthday. She was a very classy young woman.”

He continued:

“There’s a spread of misinformation online, stating different things based on speculation. These sources lack credibility and should not be believed. My sister did not engage in environments that would lead to such situation.”

So sad her family even has to worry about shutting down those kind of rumors while mourning her untimely death.

While she was currently living in LA, the content creator — who wished to be a writer and director — was a graduate of the University of Central Missouri and dreamed of returning to Kansas City one day to open a production studio to help other young creatives in the area, her brother shared. She was inspired to chase her dreams after she was picked to audition for Wild ‘N Out at just 19 (though she ultimately wasn’t selected). She was working toward a graduate degree.

Mourning her loss, Charles expressed:

“She was not selfish with her knowledge and was a very open book about her journey. She will always be dearly loved, and her legacy will live on forever.”

Heartbreaking. She was so young with so much ahead of her. Sending love to all her friends and family in this tragic time. May she rest in peace.
