Zac Efron Doesn't Regret His Mistakes: 'I Am Very Proud Of Who I Am'

Despite his rocky past, Zac Efron is “very proud” to be Zac Efron.
While promoting The Greatest Showman in Sydney, the 30-year-old reflected on the mistakes he made and how they shaped him into the man he is today.

Speaking with The Daily Telegraph, actor got candid about his struggle with alcohol and drug abuse, which landed him in rehab back in 2013.
While Zac admitted he has “messed up in the past,” he’s “happy” to have done so because those mistakes forced him to work on his issues. The actor confessed:

“I’ve done a lot of things that I look back on and go ├óΓé¼╦£sheesh, are you kidding, what were you thinking?’ It is weird to say because I am also happy that I did all of those things because I am here before you today able to proclaim that this is me and I am very proud of who I am.”

Guess he doesn’t regret starring in Dirty Grandpa after all!

The High School Musical alum compared his #noregrets mantra to his role in The Greatest Showman, which is all about showing off your true self — a journey that, according to Zac, requires working everyday to face a new set of challenges:

“We want to achieve that ability to say this is me and feel that. But it is a fleeting moment. It is one that I know I am going to have to face tomorrow. Every day I wake up and I have to start with again the man in the mirror and it is like starting from square one all over again. You are never perfect, you wake up every day and there’s a new set of challenges.”

Hard work and honesty pays off!
For what it’s worth, we don’t think Zac could make a mistake if he tried! (Not considering his recent string of movie choices.)
