Zendaya isn’t afraid to repeat an outfit!
At the Tuesday premiere of her new film The Drama, the 29-year-old proved her fashion icon status by channeling a famous old look! The STUNNING Vivienne Westwood Bridal gown she first wore more than 10 years ago! Take a look (below):

How fitting to wear a wedding dress to a film about a wedding — not to mention amid all the ongoing speculation about her and Tom Holland’s relationship status! SO perf!

In a red carpet interview with Variety, she dished:
“I remembered the saying: ‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.’ So, this is my something old. I thought I’d bring it back and give it new life.”
The gorgeous number DEFINITELY deserved new life after it was infamously overshadowed the first time around by some nasty comments!
In 2015, Zendaya wore the glowing gown to the 87th Academy Awards, pairing the look with long locs. See (below):

As you may recall, then-Fashion Police host Giuliana Rancic caused an uproar after claiming Zendaya’s hair made her look like she smelled like “patchouli oil or weed.”
The racially-charged critique sparked a very mature response from Zendaya, who was left in “awe” from the “disrespect.”
“There is a fine line between what is funny and disrespectful. Someone said something about my hair at the Oscars that left me in awe. Not because I was relishing in rave outfit reviews, but because I was hit with ignorant slurs and pure disrespect. To say that an 18-year-old young woman with locs must smell of patchouli oil or ‘weed’ is not only a large stereotype but outrageously offensive. I don’t usually feel the need to respond to negative things but certain remarks cannot go unchecked.”
She went on to name several Black women in the industry who have famously sported locs, such as Ava DuVernay and Terry McMillan, “none of which smell of marijuana.” She concluded:
“I suggest some people should listen to India Arie‘s ‘I Am Not My Hair’ and contemplate a little before opening your mouth so quickly to judge.”

In response, Rancic clarified on X (Twitter) that she was “referring to a bohemian chic look. Had NOTHING to do with race and NEVER would!!!” She followed up with a televised apology, which you can watch (below):
On Tuesday, Zendaya touched on the controversy with Variety:
“It was such an important moment for myself, my community, for my loved ones, and it felt right. And it also happens to be a wedding dress, so that works.”
Zendaya on wearing the same Vivienne Westwood gown to #TheDrama premiere that she wore to the #Oscars in 2015:

Her stylist Law Roach also took to X (Twitter) to address the situation:
“Who remembers this dress and all the headlines that came with it? Decided to go with SOMETHING OLD tonight.”
